“Who can be a Millionaire?”

I guess now is the best time to talk about Jan-worry?
I came by a friend a months ago and found him sitting with his hands
kind of stuck to his head as he was thinking intensely. Looking at him for a
while without him noticing me, I at once got the sense of what could be the
matter. The year 2016 just kicked off and where I am from, the start of the
year which is supposed to be the blessing, often becomes the curse for many, as
many rather it did not come.
January often becomes so tough financially for everyone, sometimes so for
even those who we see as financially better-off, are going about murmuring a
word or two to get the month going. I mean the month go so broke we think it
has been listening to us complaining, hence; many people this days would go on
and just term it in different words, such as “its back again” or “you know what
time it is” etc… I guess it got so hectic for this one friend of mine, that I
noticed him wrote it out as “JanWorry.”
Looking at the dilemma in general, and being the optimistic person I
consider me I am, I convinced myself that being a millionaire, would have solve
the issue of having the month or in fact the beginning of the year being so
rough. Suddenly I was on the subject of ‘millionaire,’ asking myself all kinds
of questions like “Why am I not a millionaire yet?” “How do we become millionaires?”
until I got to my favorite; “Who can be
a millionaire?”
Yes everyone can have money. Some will have a dollar, others a hundred,
many of us make it to the thousands and works even harder to make it to hundred
thousand. Most of us just dream of millions while a few have the audacity to
have billions or even more.
So I asked myself; who decides who gets what? Then snappily I thought
of that 2013 movie “Parker” by Jason Statham (plays Parker in the movie) with
co-actor Jennifer Lopes. Parker and a four man squad robs the Ohio State Fair and
eventually Parker got robbed by the group of guys he worked with, when he refused
to make the next hit which the group intended to and so he got shot and woke up
in a hospital.
As soon as he woke up next to that old man and realized where he
was, he made his way of there and the first thing he did was; he stole a car
and rob a nearby Tax Check Cashier business as he was in pursued to get back
what he was robbed, or should I say, his cut of the initial hit, but to get to
them he understood, he needed cash flow. In the end of the movie I guess you all
know how Parker became a millionaire after he robbed and killed those four guys,
probably sold the jewels and he was send some $200,000 to Lesley (Jennifer
Lopes) through that express mail as he promised.
Now don’t get me wrong here, I am not encouraging robbery or something,
in fact I am just trying to build a setting for my artefact. I am meaning to
say; I have seen some character or rather some qualities and have noticed
important elements in ‘Parker’ and I will mention a few and hope you can share
some as well. Parker had courage, principles, progression, connections and all
the time, he was conscious of who he was and were he wanted to be, he was willing
to learn and also had an; I can do it attitude, some qualities I have learned many
reality millionaires have in them.
What he did not know Parker learned from his
connections, such as the part in the beginning, where his father in law told
him about how to setup the first robbery and later again he did not have a clue
about Mrs. Clinton's’ Jewels which the other gr
I just want to build on four of the above qualities or elements that
made Parker got to millions and I should say that even though he had to endure
much pain such as to allow a knife driven through his hand while watching, I
would clear that by contesting that it can be as easy and comfortable as
completing junior school if you get what I mean, after all where there is a will,
there is a way, or so the saying goes.
I am taking that example of school because many of us do not get the replica
of school and how it is vital to our approach in life. School, for all of us has
been the one think we thought was impossibly complicated to go through, but most
of us did and it is in the past now, however the point is, many dropped out,
many made it to the last level, but a few passed the last level and my question
is simply - what makes the few pass the last level of junior or high school. I
will use Parkers character and elements from courage, principles, progression
and a little on connection below to try and make a point;
Courage
Courage is one of the fundamental characters any given human ever
possesses. Courage bring forward perseverance and perseverance give birth to
strength, no matter how weak we know we are- with courage we are strong because
strength is a matter of mental ability and not of physical ability, and all leads
to success. No wonder courage in some dictionaries is translated as steadfastness
or resoluteness and resoluteness meaning being able to resolve or make a resolution
which is translated as ‘approve’ or ‘decide’ and bingo! So courage for an
ordinary person like me is to ‘decide’ or ‘approve’ firmly, in this case to
decide or make approval on my life, to make that resolution and say “I must be
a millionaire this year.” Now notice I underlined this year in
the last sentence? Well, save that to your memory box for later.
On resolution (or steadfastness); anybody who sits in a major board
meetings knows that in such meetings they make resolution on crucial points
they discuss. The purpose of making resolution is that the minute it is made it
becomes standing order. A standing order or a resolution is equal to a court
judgment and for the person(s) it must be uphold. Therefore knowing that you
have made that resolution to be a millionaire, you bind yourself regardless of
what may come your way, I mean you must have it in you and uphold that
resolution to be what you said you must be. This way of thinking kind of make
us see ourselves as immortal and or as resilient and that was the character
Parker portrait in his movie. Good!
Now check your memory box and you will find the underlined; this
year in there. Got it..? Well, on that I have to add that it is simple for
anyone to say I must be this or do that, in this case ‘I must be a millionaire.’
However, the crucial part in making that phrase a resolution is when we add
value to it. In this regard setting the time to it, makes your resolution more
valuable and unwavering.
So when you
make those tough decisions of life don’t go easy on you because the tougher you
make it be, the more determined you pursue them and I guess that’s the way
millionaires go about it. I am saying this contrary to the general rule “don’t
go tough on yourself” and “think in your range” attitude which most coaches
will advise you to.
I bet you to start trust yourself to go hard on you,
because going easy will just show you the gateway to allow you to quite your
life’s resolution and say to yourself “It was not in my range, I have been hard
on myself” and obviously you will remain a ‘none-millionaire’ in that case.
Courage boils strength, giving you the urge to know, that you can do it, no
matter what!
Principles
Second is principles and principles are, very crucial elements as well,
which we attach to our character to focus on the plan. Principle is not a character
itself, but is what I like to call ‘a side character’ born and in the process
as one start to take once life seriously or when we want to focus on the plan
we have. Principles brings discipline and discipline let us focus.
People have
life habits as well as self-will. You want to be there! You want to do that and
if you don’t have that you are not happy and so on. Life gives us choices and
being the people we are, we have the art to choose from the menu of life, hence
some choices we make are so crucial that they can change course of or bring limitations
to or reverse the precise result of our future and that is where principles or
self-discipline comes in to help you; to tell yourself to limit or allow
something’s and to initiate new things and spend some time away from your
natural habits etc…
Now although I rightly said principles (or self-discipline) are not a
person’s character, - yet, we may regard them as ‘side characters’ and I want
to elaborate on that and say; many well-groomed millionaires of our generation
have made tough principles in their life’s and while maintaining them and
living according to them, these principles, which I like to call
‘side-characters’ have now become their actual being. This is so hence the theory
that goes; the things you often do, become your habits and your habits become
your character and your character is who you are.
My point is, if we can set perimeters or principles that can make us
millionaires and if we can in a long run make this initial guidelines become
our actual self (our character) than they (our side-characters) can eventually
make us billionaires and more. The issue of Lesly (in ‘Parker’) was she didn’t
want to change or move away from the person she was (the choices she made in
the past), still stuck with the concern over her ex-husband and how she had to
pay their debtors even when he was with another woman.
She was caught in a ‘pity-myself’
trap or resentful way of thinking (many of us do that) however people like Parker
in the movie, who are courageous and principled men and women tell themselves they
can use their resentment to change their future by making resolution and be focused
on the plan and my next point is to clarify between knowing my past to move on
with life – progressiveness) and NOT knowing my past and pity myself with it.
Progression
The words; development, movement (or moving on), evolution, advancement
and others are just a few words that may come in your head right now and you
are right that is progression, but what is key here is the point progression
takes place from. Knowing oneself is a very important key of knowing where we
want to be. We all place ourselves at some place of beginning. There is always
a start for everything even Monopoly has a beginning. I always believe that I
had it in me, when I wrote my first song and drama for a musical when I was
just thirteen and I thought it was my beginning.
Sometimes it is not what we discover in us that determine our
beginning, because in many cases our beginnings occur in the process of life.
It may not come in the most admirable circumstances that we think of and it may
be hard to swallow, but it is crucial to know it and to say “enough is enough,
I must get out of here.” The “I must get out of here” attitude must kick in us
to bring forward action, I tell you a scooter cannot run unless you start the
ignition, and if it can’t start it cannot move unless you push it.
As I was saying when I was thirteen or so I only discovered the
resourcefulness of myself, what I had in me. While growing up, I was just
learning how to use the tools I possess and sharpen my skills in using them. We
all do, most of us go through that stage, until suddenly we lose it (or we say:
something went wrong in my life) and we kind of think it is not working for us
anymore.
Coming to this point, I always like to take an example of Donald Trump
as I did in my book “To Rise, To Fall, To Rise Again! I wrote of his ability to change the end of
what was supposed to have silenced him until today (as a bad tune) and he
fine-tuned it as a sweet melody of his voice today.
Progression for me is when something moves and shifts in the direction
to take its rightful shape or existence. Progression is that snap look at your life
going negative and you understand that it is the alarm that says ‘enough it’s
time for you to go up another level (or two) in your life.’ I don’t want to say
this, but I think it is for someone out there that I must make this known; thus shift normally happens in the late
twenties or sometime in the thirties. You know what you have been going
through and how tough that has been, but your experiences is the key to put
into the ignition and start that scooter to drive towards a million dollars and
if it did not start by ignition, then push it towards your success (a shift). I
am saying this to let you understand that it is never too late to become a
millionaire.
Closing with a little on
Connections
I want to wrap up with ‘connections’ one of the valuable elements I
take from this fantastic movie “Parker” and from my personal experience as I build
my story on ‘Who can be a Millionaire?’
Make acquaintances with people! Not just “Big Shots” or whatever they
call successful people, but anyone. Remember in the Bible; Jesus once made a
parable about the valued guest invited by a king for a feast and how they all
had excuses and the king sent for anyone out there even of less class – that is
an excellence parable to learn from my friends. Make the least valuable of your
acquaintances so valuable and worthy because you just don’t know when you will
need them to endorse you, connect you to someone bigger than them or lend you
the budget you need to start up or expand.
I was looking at my friends on Facebook one time when I got into
trouble and needed a friend to help me out and did not find one. I have
realized it does not help to have a thousand of them and they cannot do you any
good, it is better to have twelve of them that you can maintain by caring for
and who you can rely on in return. I have a thousand connections on LinkedIn
others have ten thousand but we never met them or don’t say ‘Hi’ to half of
them daily. Pointless huh?
My bottom-line on connections is; sort your connection and list a
limited of them that you trust will have any significance to your goal(s) in
life. Dish out favors, see what they are busy with and try to help with anything
before you ask any favors and then you can talk about connections.
Well as I am closing, remember it is not about how someone else made it
to millions, it must be your own story and for each and every one of us, we
have the blue print in us of the journey to be millionaires or billionaires we
will become - if we make that resolution today.
The above points are just guides but are worth a millionaire or not,
depending on your will to become millionaire.
It is all within each and every
one of us. It dependents on the courage we have and to decide to discipline
ourselves to progress in life by make and use the right connections; and that’s
just my theory of “Who can be a Millionaire.”
Good luck!
